forensic medicine in modern sense was introduced in early 20th century in our country. The first Korean forensic pathologist among medical school graduates was Dr. Choy Dong, who graduated from Severance Union Medical College(SUMC) in 1921.
He was born in 1986 at Seoul, and entered SUMC in 1918. He went to Department of Forensic Medicine, Tohoku Niversity Medical College, Sendai, Sendai, Japan, and researched in the field of forensic medicne. He returned to Korea in 1936 and became
a
lecturer of forensic medicine. He had also lectured clinical pathology and parasitology.
He resigned SUMC in 1948 because of some uncertain reasons.
